this weeks frustrations

i had to work more this week (modeling) so i had a good deal less time to work on art.  Gotta play ketchup this weekend next week to meet this weeks goals.

 the bottom two are alla prima studies, i think 16"x12", the top is a quick fechin copy. 

 This is an example of bad composition turning into a bad painting due to sheer frustration.

 a 1hr 'en plein air' study.  I suck at these but i'm trying to work it out.  I love doing them, just gotta connect the dots.  A copy this week would do me good.

Some drawings i'm working out.  They are to be done by this weekend/next weekend in full pen and ink glory. (on another sheet of paper, but i work out all my decisions on crappy regular paper before the final drawing.  This is especially good since i can't erase pen and ink so i need to be confident in my decisions).

This weeks damage

sierra nevada and pens

some of the paintings i did. 

this week.  A drawing i intend to transfer to pen n ink, done from a friend who was kind enough to pose, and small studies for a larger piece.  The one on the right is a copy.  It used a palette i liked and had a similar lighting/landscape situation to what i was doing.  The painting to the left is a small study of a personal painting.    Still pushing and pulling with that one, but at least i'm not doing it on a 30"x40" canvas.

a small pen and ink sketch i did for a larger piece.  Trying out some new surfaces, application methods and aesthetic qualities. So far just moving.

My painting sold at the 102nd CAC Gold Medal Show to a wonderful lady i was fortunate enough to meet. Many good paintings at the show, i would highly recommend seeing them in person if you can.
